If you like early nineties Hard Rock, then get ready for Ragged Release. The band is an energetic group of guys from Irving, Texas. Some of the influences heard in their music include Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Full Devil Jacket, and the list goes on. Four years ago things got rolling with Matt Johnson and Cody Akin jamming in their garages. Casey, Cody's younger brother, soon followed in their footsteps by joining them on the bass. Having a shared interest in music they soon realized that they needed to do something with their talents. Wanting to share their talents with others they lined up their first gig as Ragged Release, opening for the Grand St. Cryors at the Canyon Club.
The next few years led to instability while searching for a drummer who shared their same artistic drive to be successful. Along came Jason Lancaster; whom has since been the rhythmic backbone of the band with his growing skills, driving beat, and inherit ability on the drums.
The band has frequented several venues around Dallas, including Galaxy Club, Liquid Lounge, Graffitti's Rock Room and the Curtain Club. Ragged Release has also been heard as far out as Paris, Texas and Chelsea St. Pub in Abilene. After winning their spot on the 2001 Jam Fest Compilation CD, Harder Beat magazine called Ragged Release, "One promising band."
Armed with a full original set list and plenty of new material: Matt (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Cody (Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals), Casey (Bass), Jason (Drums) look forward to capturing the attention of more rock enthusiasts to join the arsenal of loyal fans who follow them regularly.
